A focus on social connection and elevated comfort has seen major upgrades across both dorm-style and boutique private accommodation including the addition of all-new custom bunks with a personal light, charger ports, lockable storage and privacy curtains in shared rooms, as well as the communal zones including spacious lounge and terrace, relaxed nooks and social kitchen that underscores the communal guest experience.

In its first month of trade, Little Drifter Cairns hit full occupancy and had a guest mix of 87.5 percent international travellers.

Drifter CEO Luke Moran hosted the opening event on Thursday July 18 and was joined by local operators, industry partners, and representatives from Tourism Tropical North Queensland including CEO Mark Olsen.
“Cairns has long been a rite of passage for international travellers coming to Australia, and Little Drifter Cairns celebrates that spirit with a new perspective,” said Moran.
“We’ve created something that offers all the fun and social energy of a hostel, but with the design detail, service and amenity today’s travellers expect. And with a stellar first few weeks of operation under our belts, we know that Little Drifter Cairns will become a mainstay and vibrant sanctuary for travellers from across the world looking to explore the great tropical north region of Queensland.”
Little Drifter Cairns is part of Drifter’s network of seven operating properties across Australia and New Zealand, including its flagship Drifter Christchurch hybrid hotel, and Little Drifter hostel venues (formerly known as The Village hostels) in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Surry Hills and Glebe, Canberra, Melbourne CBD and North Melbourne, all of which have also undergone extensive refurbishment over the last 12-months in a multi-million dollar project. Drifter Byron Bay, Melbourne, Wellington and Drifter Auckland will also launch soon.
