Kari Hunter, Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Senior Director, Commercial and Revenue Management, said the sponsorship reflects the brand’s commitment to both sport and community.

“This partnership gives us a platform to showcase our hotel brands alongside elite athletes, 10 NBL teams and 76 NBL1 teams while also delivering tangible benefits to our franchisees through increased brand visibility, bookings and community engagement,” Hunter said.

“Our Choice Sports Travel Program is a game-changer for NBL1 and community clubs, offering discounts on our best available rates and a rebate back to their clubs. It’s a practical fundraising tool that supports local sport while driving occupancy for our hotels.”

Basketball has become one of Australia’s most popular team sports, with more than 1.3 million players nationwide. The NBL’s recent growth, matched by strong grassroots participation, makes the alignment with Choice Hotels a natural fit.

NBL Chief Partnerships Officer Shenae Beus said the collaboration would make it easier for fans and players to stay connected to the game.

“Partnering with Choice Hotels allows us to better support our teams, fans, families, and the wider basketball community by making travel to games and tournaments more convenient, comfortable and affordable,” Beus said.

“This partnership means more people can get to more games, more often. It’s a win for everyone who loves the game.”

Fans can expect to see Choice Hotels integrated across the NBL experience, from courtside LED signage and broadcast features to digital activations and exclusive player content. The sponsorship also links directly to the brand’s award-winning Choice Privileges loyalty program, giving fans the chance to earn and redeem points on every game day trip.

With the partnership extending to NBL26 and beyond, Choice Hotels is aiming to deepen its ties with basketball communities across Australasia and strengthen its franchisees’ reach.
