Crowne Plaza set to make its mark in Parramatta’s evolving skyline

Globally, the Crowne Plaza brand continues to expand, with 415 hotels open and 144 more in the pipeline.

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to bring its world-renowned Crowne Plaza brand to the heart of Parramatta, partnering with Urban Property Group on a striking new mixed-use development set to open in 2029.

The 217-room Crowne Plaza Parramatta will rise directly opposite Parramatta Train Station, offering guests unrivalled transport connectivity and direct access to the Westfield Parramatta lifestyle precinct. A pedestrian link between the station and the hotel will provide seamless entry for visitors and travellers alike.

The new property promises a stylish blend of business and leisure appeal, featuring a contemporary all-day restaurant, an intimate lobby bar, flexible meeting and event spaces, and a rooftop infinity pool with an outdoor terrace—all designed to capture the energy and ambition of Sydney’s booming “second CBD.”

IHG Hotels & Resorts Managing Director for Australasia & Pacific, Matt Tripolone, said the development comes at a pivotal moment for the region.

“Western Sydney is one of Australia’s most dynamic growth corridors, underpinned by record levels of infrastructure investment, a flourishing business and government sector, and the arrival of Western Sydney International Airport in 2026,” he said.

“Crowne Plaza Parramatta will be a flagship destination for both domestic and international travellers and an important addition to the city’s evolving skyline.”

Urban Property Group Co-CEO Patrick Elias said the collaboration represents the company’s first hotel project.

“We are excited to partner with IHG Hotels & Resorts to bring Crowne Plaza Parramatta to life,” he said. “This will become a defining feature within our mixed-use development and a must-visit destination that combines quality hospitality and unrivalled connectivity.”

With Parramatta rapidly transforming through major cultural and infrastructure investments — including the Powerhouse Parramatta Museum, the expanded Riverside Theatres precinct, and the upcoming Western Sydney International Airport — the city is poised to become a central hub for tourism, business, and the arts.
