Electrify Queenstown has been named a finalist in two categories of the inaugural Bizzies – Aotearoa Business Events Awards 2025, recognising its role in driving meaningful environmental and community impact.
Created and led by Destination Queenstown, with support from the Queenstown Business Chamber of Commerce and principal sponsor Aurora Energy, the annual summit is designed to inspire practical action toward electrification and sustainability.
Now in its third year, Electrify Queenstown brings together leaders, innovators, and policymakers to explore cost-effective ways for businesses and households to transition to low-emission solutions.
The 2026 event will run from May 17–19, at the Queenstown Events Centre.
This year, the summit has been shortlisted for the Business Event Award for Legacy Impact (Organisation/Group) and Excellence in Environmental Sustainability Award (Organisation/Group) at the Bizzies. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland on 26 November 2025.
Mat Woods, Chief Executive of Destination Queenstown and Lake Wānaka Tourism, said the recognition highlights the growing influence of the event.
“Electrify Queenstown has real momentum now – 2025 was our most energised event so far, with hundreds of attendees, packed sessions, and genuine interest from locals and visitors looking to electrify their homes and businesses,” Woods said.
“I’m proud of the team behind the event, who organised a truly inspiring three days with visionary speakers providing a catalyst for change toward a lower-cost, low-emissions, and resilient future. The plan for 2026 is to go even bigger.”
The event plays a key role in supporting Queenstown Lakes’ destination management plan, aligning with the region’s broader goal of regenerative tourism and achieving a carbon-zero visitor economy by 2030.
