Set to bring its signature approachable and considered hospitality style to Darwin for the first time, family-run Prendiville Group is the celebrated team behind destination-led venues including The Cottesloe Beach Hotel, Samphire Rottnest, Mangrove Hotel Broome, alongside award-winning restaurants Tigerfish, Isola Bar e Cibo and more.
Prendiville Group Regional CEO Garrett Prendiville said the first stage of transforming the 168-room hotel reflected a carefully crafted approach to tropical hospitality in the NT’s capital.
“This is the beginning of a new chapter for The Leea and a new tourism offering for Darwin: an elevated boutique lifestyle hotel that reflects the unique, laid-back energy of the city, curated for both corporate and leisure travellers.”
“Privately enclosed yet just steps from the city centre, the open-air venue will be the vibrant social hub of the hotel, offering premium hospitality, a breezy resort atmosphere and a standard of design and dining that will feel genuinely fresh to the CBD.”
Located on Cavenagh Street just 10 minutes’ drive from Darwin International Airport, the former Travelodge offers six function spaces accommodating everything from intimate boardroom meetings to events of 200 guests.
Award-winning interior design agency Collectivus has been engaged to lead the redesign, bringing a distinctly contemporary aesthetic to the project. The agency is also currently curating the hotel’s refreshed look and feel.
The Leea Poolside, Garden and Common will be the group’s latest expression of its long-standing focus on thoughtful, detail-driven hospitality, overseen by nationally recognised chef and Group Director of Food Russell Blaikie.
The transformation of The Leea will take place in stages over the next 18 months.
