The two new-build Mantra hotels will expand Accor's presence in Hamilton, adding 92 rooms to the city in conjunction with Mistry Centre Ltd
Accor, the largest hospitality group in New Zealand, today announces the signing of two new Mantra hotels in Hamilton, further strengthening the accommodation offering in one of the country’s fastest-growing regional centres.
Developed by Hamilton-based developers Sanjil Mistry and Pienaar Piso from Mistry Centre Ltd., the two new-build hotels are expected to open in 2027. Together, they will introduce 92 rooms to the city, with Mantra Hamilton Pembroke Street set to offer 52 rooms and Mantra Hamilton Karewa Place set to offer 40 rooms.

The signings build on Accor’s existing relationship with Mistry Centre, which is also developing the upcoming Pullman Hamilton, a landmark conversion hotel project in the heart of the city.
The addition of two Mantra hotels will complement Pullman Hamilton by broadening Accor’s offering across multiple segments and guest needs, from premium city stays to flexible studio and apartment-style accommodation designed for business, leisure and extended-stay travellers.

Hamilton is New Zealand’s fourth largest city and a key gateway to the wider Waikato region. With a growing business sector, major events calendar and strong visitor appeal, the city continues to generate demand for high-quality, branded accommodation.
The arrival of two Mantra hotels will help meet this demand while supporting the ongoing evolution of Hamilton as a dynamic destination for work, events and leisure travel.

“Mantra is one of the most trusted and recognised hotel brands in the Pacific, and these signings represent an exciting step in its continued expansion across New Zealand,” said Adrian Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Accor in the Pacific region.
“Hamilton is a city with strong momentum, growing visitor demand and an increasingly diverse travel market. By introducing two new Mantra hotels alongside the future Pullman Hamilton, we are creating a stronger, more complete accommodation offering for the city, while deepening our valued partnership with Mistry Centre.”
Hamilton Mayor Tim Macindoe said the investment reflects Hamilton’s growing appeal and the confidence major international brands have in the city’s future.
“Hamilton has so much to offer, from world-class attractions, major events and sporting fixtures to outstanding hospitality and visitor experiences. We’re also the gateway to the wider Waikato region and all the incredible destinations it has to offer.”
“As more people discover what makes our city and region such a great place to visit, demand for quality accommodation continues to grow. That’s why welcoming a brand with a strong presence across the Oceania and Asia-Pacific region is such great news for Hamilton.
“Not only will it address the need for a wider range of accommodation options in two key parts of the city, it will also strengthen our reputation as a tourist hotspot, while complementing the city’s expanding accommodation offering,” said Mr Macindoe.

Mantra Hamilton Pembroke Street will offer a peaceful setting close to Hamilton Lake, providing guests with easy access to green space, an assortment of cafés and the convenience of the city. The hotel will also feature an onsite gym and grab-and-go dining option.
Mantra Hamilton Karewa Place is well positioned to serve guests travelling for business, project work and extended stays, with the surrounding area home to commercial offices, industrial businesses and large-format retail. The hotel will feature an onsite restaurant and gym.
“Hamilton is a city with real momentum, and we see tremendous opportunity in being part of its next phase of growth,” said Sanjil Mistry from Mistry Centre Ltd.
“Our investment across Pullman Hamilton and these two new Mantra hotels reflects our confidence in the city’s future and our commitment to delivering projects that strengthen its position as a place to live, work, visit and invest.”
Pienaar Piso from Mistry Centre Ltd. added: “Hamilton is entering a really exciting new chapter. We’re seeing strong population growth, increased business investment, and major improvements in infrastructure and connectivity.”
“All of those factors are creating real confidence in the city and making it an attractive place to invest. As Hamilton continues to grow, so does the need for high-quality accommodation that caters to a wide range of travellers, whether they’re here for business, events, tourism or leisure.
“These new hotels aren’t just about adding more rooms; they’re about helping shape Hamilton into a more vibrant, sophisticated city and supporting the next stage of its growth.”
The signing of the two Hamilton hotels follows a period of growing momentum for Mantra in New Zealand. The brand recently expanded with the opening of Mantra Central Wellington, rebranded from Mercure Wellington Central City in April, joining Mantra on the Point Queenstown and Mantra Lake Tekapo as part of the brand’s existing New Zealand portfolio.
