Cabravale Club Resort celebrates five tourism awards as Western Sydney prepares to welcome its first passenger flights

As Western Sydney prepares to welcome its first commercial passenger flights this weekend, one of the region’s biggest believers in its tourism potential has been crowned Western Sydney Tourism Business of the Year.

Cabravale Club Resort, which invested in a major transformation over eight years to transform a century-old community club into Australia’s first truly integrated club resort, has celebrated five major wins at the 2026 Western Sydney Tourism Awards, including the coveted Platinum award for Western Sydney Tourism Business of the Year.

Five major wins for Cabravale Club Resort

At the Western Sydney Tourism Awards on Friday 16 October, Cabravale Club Resort and its businesses secured five awards across accommodation, dining, tourism transformation and leadership:

  • PLATINUM – Western Sydney Tourism Business of the Year: Cabravale Club Resort
  • PLATINUM – Unique Accommodation: Novotel Sydney Cabramatta
  • PLATINUM – Best Rated Cuisine: Magma by Dany Karam
  • GOLD – Tourism Transformation Excellence Award: Cabravale Club Resort
  • GOLD – Chief Executive/General Manager/Business Leader: Vicki Le, Chief Commercial Officer, Cabravale Club Resort

The awards recognise Cabravale’s transformation into a leading tourism, accommodation, dining and entertainment destination, and its growing contribution to Western Sydney’s visitor economy.

“A 101-year-old diggers club transforming itself into a resort with an international hotel and a world-ranked steakhouse might have surprised a few people,” Ms Le said.

“But we knew Western Sydney deserved something extraordinary, and we wanted to create a destination that would attract visitors from across Australia and around the world.

“These awards belong to our entire Cabravale team, whose passion, hard work and commitment to hospitality have brought our vision to life. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together, and even more excited about what’s ahead.”

An award-winning destination ready for international visitors

Located approximately 30 minutes’ drive from Western Sydney International Airport, Cabravale Club Resort brings together the award-winning 140-room, 4.5-star Novotel Sydney Cabramatta, a spectacular resort-style swimming pool, acclaimed restaurants, entertainment, leisure experiences and dedicated event and conference facilities.

Its dining offering is led by Magma by Dany Karam, which was also ranked Australia’s 14th-best and the world’s 61st-best steak restaurant in the 2026 World’s 101 Best Steak Restaurants.

Other attractions include the 2,000-square-metre District 8 Asian dining precinct, Horizon’s yum cha and live seafood, Italian-inspired Caffè Vicini, eight outdoor pickleball courts, Éclat Atelier hair salon and head spa, Cabravale Boutique and the Cabravale Events & Conference Centre.

Further developments are planned as the Club continues to expand its tourism and hospitality offering.

The recognition comes just nine days before Western Sydney International Airport opens to commercial passenger flights, with Jetstar and Air New Zealand flights expected to arrive over the next couple of days.

Cabravale Club Resort Chief Commercial Officer Vicki Le said the two milestones were a powerful demonstration of Western Sydney’s emergence as a major Australian tourism destination.

“What an extraordinary moment for Western Sydney. Just days after being named the region’s Tourism Business of the Year, we’re preparing to welcome the first passengers through an airport that will transform tourism and opportunity across our region,” Ms Le said.

“Congratulations to the entire Western Sydney International team, and to Jetstar and Air New Zealand for backing our region from day one. This weekend, Western Sydney stops being somewhere people fly over and becomes somewhere they fly into.

“Eight years ago, our Club made a bold call. We didn’t build for the Western Sydney of that time. We built for the Western Sydney that arrives this weekend.

“We always believed this region had the potential to become one of Australia’s great tourism destinations. To have our vision recognised with five major tourism awards just days before the airport opens is incredibly rewarding, and a wonderful endorsement of the extraordinary work our team has put into making it a reality.”

Ms Le said the arrival of international flights would create new opportunities to introduce visitors to the region’s distinctive multicultural communities, experiences and hospitality.

Vietjet’s direct services between Ho Chi Minh City and Western Sydney are scheduled to commence in January 2027, providing a new connection to one of Australia’s largest Vietnamese communities. Around two-thirds of Cabravale’s members have Vietnamese heritage.

“As someone of Vietnamese heritage myself, I know how much those flights will mean to families here. Grandparents meeting grandchildren, relatives coming home for Tết – Vietnamese Lunar New Year – and friends reunited. Visitors won’t just arrive at a new airport. They’ll arrive in a community that already feels familiar, with somewhere to stay, eat well and celebrate together.

“Western Sydney has so much to be proud of, and so much to share with the world. We’ve spent years preparing for this moment, and we’re not finished yet. As the airport grows, so will we. And now, as Western Sydney’s Tourism Business of the Year, we’re more determined than ever to show visitors what makes this region so special.

“The airport is open. Cabravale is ready. And Western Sydney is ready to welcome the world.”
