Plaza Premium Group accelerates Australian lounge expansion
New Sydney T2 lounge to open as Plaza Premium Group builds its independent domestic network with Brisbane and Cairns updates to follow
Plaza Premium Group (PPG), the global leader in 360-degree airport hospitality and passenger service solutions, is accelerating its Australian expansion with a $20 million investment program, headlined by Sydney Airport’s first independent pay-per-use domestic lounge and further developments in Brisbane and Cairns.
Marking ten years since its Australian debut, PPG is expanding its domestic network to give more travellers access to airport lounges without relying on airline status or premium tickets.

The investment includes a new 113-seat, 545 sqm Plaza Premium Lounge at Sydney Airport’s Terminal 2 in early December, a complete rebuild of its Brisbane International lounge, and a new domestic lounge at Cairns Airport in 2027.
Sydney opening broadens domestic lounge access
The new Plaza Premium Lounge Sydney Domestic will be located airside at T2, serving departing passengers travelling with airlines including Virgin Australia and Jetstar.

Handling over 25 million domestic passengers annually across T2 and T3, Sydney Airport’s domestic precinct is a high-frequency area. Specifically, T2 serves as the heavy-traffic hub for major domestic carriers and key trunk routes like Sydney-Melbourne and Sydney-Brisbane. The development of the new domestic lounge strengthens PPG’s operational presence at Sydney Airport and directly supports the terminal’s long-term growth and passenger experience.
Unlike traditional airline lounges, access will not be restricted by airline status, alliance membership, ticket class or premium credit card eligibility. Travellers will be able to purchase access directly, with walk-in and multi-entry booking options available.

Opening alongside Sydney Airport’s $200 million redevelopment of T2, the lounge will offer quiet workspaces, comfortable seating, high-speed connectivity, charging facilities, barista coffee, locally inspired food and beverage options, and a full-service bar.

Cyrus Wong, General Manager, Oceania at Plaza Premium Group, said the development reflected the company’s ambition to make airport hospitality a more accessible part of the travel journey.
“If you are flying out of Sydney’s domestic terminal without airline status, options prior to boarding have traditionally been limited.”
“A decade after entering Australia, we are proud to launch our biggest domestic project yet. Whether it is a business traveller needing a quiet hour to work, a family heading on holiday, or a solo traveller wanting a comfortable space to relax, we are making a premium airport experience a normal, easy part of domestic travel.”
A growing network for travellers and industry partners
The Sydney opening follows the launch of Plaza Premium Lounge Adelaide Domestic in November 2025, Australia’s first independent domestic airport lounge. With Cairns to follow in early 2027, PPG is extending independent lounge access across Australia’s domestic aviation network.
Globally, PPG works with airlines, airports and financial institutions to provide airport hospitality services through its own brands and on behalf of partners.

Investment extends beyond new openings
The $20 million investment programme also includes a complete rebuild and redesign of PPG’s Brisbane International lounge, reinforcing its presence at the airport where it first entered Australia in 2016. Further Australian developments are planned for mid-to-late 2027.
The upgrade comes as Brisbane Airport prepares for rising international travel demand and the arrival of visitors for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Its wider $5 billion-plus transformation programme aims to improve capacity and the passenger experience as Brisbane grows as an international gateway.
“A decade ago, we introduced our independent lounge concept to Australia in Brisbane with a vision to make premium airport hospitality accessible to travellers needing space away from the terminal,” said Mei Mei Song, Chief Transformation Officer at Plaza Premium Group.
“Ten years in Australia, ten lounges and ten consecutive years of Skytrax airport lounge awards – these are milestones we are incredibly proud of.”
“Australia has become one of our most vital growth markets globally, and this $20 million investment reaffirms our long-term commitment to the region as we continue to redefine the travel experience across major Asia-Pacific transit hubs.”
A decade of Australian growth
Since entering Australia in 2016, PPG has established a presence across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, encompassing international and domestic lounges, airport hotel accommodation and partner-operated facilities.
The new Sydney Domestic lounge will make Sydney Airport PPG’s largest operational hub in Australia.
The expansion follows significant industry recognition, with PPG named World’s Best Airport Lounge Group at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards, while Plaza Premium Lounge Adelaide received the title of Oceania’s Leading Airport Lounge at the 2026 World Travel Awards.
Globally, PPG operates across 600 airports in 150 countries, serving approximately 30 million passengers annually.
Sydney Airport welcomes expanded partnership
Mark Zaouk, Group Executive Commercial, at Sydney Airport, said: “The arrival of Plaza Premium Lounge marks another exciting milestone in the transformation of T2, introducing our first independent, non-airline lounge in the domestic terminals, open to all passengers regardless of airline or ticket class.”
“It’s giving passengers more choice in how they experience the airport and forms part of our broader transformation of the domestic precinct, with new retail, dining and passenger experiences creating a more contemporary T2.”
Plaza Premium Lounge Sydney Domestic is scheduled to open in early December 2026.
