Refurbishment of Mount Isa’s Argent Hotel is expected to be completed this month.
The historic establishment has been given a new lease on life after many years of vacancy.
A director for the owners Capstone Isa P/L said works were running to schedule with no disruptions to the original plans. Anytime Fitness will open a gym on the ground level while the second story of the building will feature an 18-room motel, and according to the Capstone Isa director should open in late May.
The motel is going to be named Icon On Isa, in a nod to the history of the building.
Capstone Isa said the building will receive a major facelift with a modernised contemporary look to the façade, with a combination of timber weatherboards, painted and rendered block work and modern cladding.
