Minimum apartment size proposed for Melbourne

The City of Melbourne is considering joining Sydney in adopting a minimum apartment size of 50m².

The council is inviting public submissions from owners, developers, investors and body-corporate managers and has released a discussion paper, ”identifying issues and options for housing our community”, called Future Living. Around 80,000 people are expected to move into the city by 2031. The average size of a one-bedroom apartment was currently 44m².
