Student accommodation breakthrough in Tasmania
The University of Tasmania’s new $75 million student accommodation development has taken a major step forward.
Project director Jacinta Young has revealed the university had bought the Elders Brown & Banks real estate office, the former Black Prince Hotel and the rear of the Country Women’s Association gift shop and the Tassielink transit terminal, all of which will be demolished.
Construction is due to begin mid-next year and be completed in 2016. The project is yet to receive planning approval from the council but the process should commence in the next few weeks.
