Webjet Chases More Hotels
Online retailer Webjet will focus on developing its hotel business over the next 12 months predicting it will grow its hotel inventory by more than 30,000 hotels by January 2012.
Despite the Melbourne-based firm making an 8% increase in profits to $15.7 million for the 12 months to June 30, said it has been unable to make significant inroads into the hotel market. However, managing director John Guscic said its strength in the flights positions the brand to sell to a “loyal customer base” he was confident Webjet can capture market share of Australia’s $11.3 billion accommodation market.
“Webjet will substantially extend its powerful aggregation model into a multi supply hotel offering which will increase from the current 69,000 approximate hotels to over 100,000 by January 2012,” he said.
