Unbranding… Stylish Broadbeach Resort Under new Management

The stylish Broadbeach Savannah Hotel and Resort is now under new management after being bought from the BreakFree Group last month.

Formerly known as Breakfree Savannah, the property is located in the “golden triangle” of Broadbeach and a short walk to the beach, Casino, Pacific Fair and all that the Gold Coast’s most popular suburb offers.

Shahim Khalil, together with sons Shawwal and Tanzil, now operate the resort as a family after relocating to Queensland from Melbourne.

The hotel and resort has almost 100 rooms in the letting pool comprising a mix of studio, one, two and three bedroom apartments. Guest facilities include a pool for the adults and another one especially for children, two spas, a sauna and small gym. There is also a day spa onsite and a restaurant.

The Khalil family has already made an impact on the long term residents and holidaymakers with guests enjoying a high level of service and attention to detail. “We have gone from being one property amongst a large group, to a family run and operated resort where one of us is onsite at all times, ensuring guests get a high level of service and satisfaction,” said Shahim Khalil.

“Even staff that have stayed with us since the changeover have noticed the changes we have made to our level of service, cleanliness, and overall attention to detail.”

Mr Shahim said operations had taken on a more hotel approach and corporate appearance with bold red signage and stationary and a new look website.

“We have also changed subtle service areas, such as taking late night check-ins, which has been successful for Broadbeach where the entertainment is hugely popular and runs until late,” he said. “We have been receiving some great positive comments with online websites so it shows that people are taking notice of the changes we have made.”

The Khalil family plan to refurbish the hotel and resort slightly over time, putting a permanent outdoor room outside the conference room, to allow even more al fresco space for delegates. At a later stage, they will also revamp the reception area and restaurant. Presently, the restaurant serves breakfast but there are plans to open it up for lunches and dinners, with a distinctive international flavour on the menu.

“We are hoping this will attract locals as we are only a short walk from the heart of Broadbeach,” said Mr Khalil.

The Khalil family will be one to watch in tourism, as Shahim says they plan to acquire other properties throughout Queensland and other states in the future.
