$2m Accommodation Plan for Port Macquarie Winery

Hastings Estate’s joint owners and directors John Ross and John Cassegrain are planning a boutique guesthouse and apartment complex to complement the Cassegrain Winery on the Hastings River near Port Macquarrie.

The $2 million accommodation project at the export quality winery could begin construction as early as next year. A two-storey French-inspired guesthouse and separate apartments surrounded by French gardens are planned on the eastern side of the property among the vineyards. The apartments would have a flexible configuration to cater to a range of guests.

An on-site effluent disposal system is proposed using native reed beds with waste water irrigating the gardens and woodlands.

Concept plans also include 28 caravan/campervan/RV parking with easy access to the Pacific Highway.

“There are more and more people travelling around Australia in recreational vehicles,” Mr Cassegrain said.

The Cassegrain Winery was on the market last year but Mr Cassegrain said expressions of interest resulted in some responses but no sale price could be agreed on.
