Cairns Hotel Opens new Events Facility

The Pacific International Hotel on Cairns’ Esplanade shows off its upgraded events centre this week after a $10 million refurbishment.

The family owned hotel has just completed a five-stage refurbishment that started in 2008 but there is more to come with the lobby set for upgrading and the hotel facade getting a makeover in the next 12 months.

The upgraded events facility occupies the entire third floor of the hotel and offers eight meeting areas with the hotel’s ballroom accommodating up 180 people banquet style and 315 people theatre style. The hotel’s poolside terrace can cater for a further 100 people.

Suzanne Dawson of StoneEdge was the interior designer for the project and construction was carried out by Paul Brookes Construction.

Features include wireless Internet, video conferencing and energy control systems that allow an array of different mood lighting effects.

Pacific International’s executive director Paul Kamsler said,”When the Pacific International opened 30 years ago it caused a sensation. Its features and facilities were new and cutting edge. Now with the opening of the newly built Pacific conference and events centre we will regain our prominence offering greater value for money, attention to detail and more personal service.”
