Hotel Windsor has Appointed a new CEO

Michael Ziemer, formerly general manager of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s The Excelsior, Hong Kong, joins on August 1 as CEO of Hotel Windsor Holdings P/L.

Adipoetra Halim, director of the Melbourne-based Halim Group that owns the hotel, said Michael will continue to focus on the success that the hotel is currently enjoying by revitalising the dining options, enhancing the room product and driving quality, which the hotel is so highly regarded for.

Michael joined Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong as resident manager in 2003 and was then appointed acting general manager. In 2004 he was appointed general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich and, in 2007, general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Macau, where he was responsible for assisting with the sale of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s interest in the property and successfully re-branding it as Grand Lapa. He was appointed general manager of The Excelsior in 2010.

The 180-room Hotel Windsor will celebrate its 130th anniversary in 2013. It pre-dates some of the world’s leading grand hotels including the Savoy in London, which was built in 1889, the Waldorf Astoria in New York which dates back to 1893, and the Ritz Paris which opened in 1898.
