175 Year Old Hotel on Sale
Melbourne’s heritage-listed Mitre Tavern’s owner Ian Hicks, who also owns Richmond’s Vine Hotel, seeks to diversify and is offering the property at auction on August 11 through Kristian Peatling of commercial agents, Alexander Robertson.
The hotel was operated on a long-term lease by Michael Palmer and dates back to 1837 and around $6.5 million is expected for the building.
The hotel comes complete with the ghost of former hotel resident Connie Waugh, who hanged herself when her affair with Sir Rupert Clarke ended.
