Chains show interest in WA
This week the Hilton confirmed it was exploring options to convert an existing building into its second hotel in Perth and planned to unveil more Australasian properties this year.
Hilton vice-president development Australasia Robert Scullin said that more properties in WA were on its radar.
The WA branch of the Australian Hotels Association said it was only one of several international chains showing interest in WA.
“Some of them are well known in Europe and the US but not necessarily in Australia – some of them are Australian,” AHA WA chief executive Bradley Woods said. “We’ve had discussions with a number of chains about their interest in expanding the presence of their existing properties.”
AHA WA says 1900 new beds are needed in the city by 2020 to keep up with demand.
Hilton’s new 164-room hotel in Karratha, announced last week, will be built in a factory and then assembled on site.
