Another huge tower approved for Melbourne

A 71-storey apartment tower at Southbank will become Melbourne’s fourth-tallest building after approval from Victorian planning minister Matthew Guy.

The Falls tower in Queensbridge St will be built between the 276m Queensbridge Tower and 255m Prima Pearl Tower (now under-construction), the 205m Freshwater Place and the 297m Eureka Tower.
It will have 586 apartments, meeting rooms, a lap pool and spa as well as function rooms, lounges and bars. The new tower will mean the number of completed or approved apartments in the area to 2945, which Mr Guy said underlined the push towards inner-city living.
“The approval of The Falls is consistent with the coalition government’s commitment to grow a greater Melbourne CBD and to continue the transformation of the city centre to a world-class, 24-hour city,” he said.
