Palmer conceptualises the new Coolum

A 20-storey sky needle and two 10-storey beachfront hotels with a casino are just a couple of new concepts Clive Palmer has outlined for his resort at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast.

Resort manager Bill Schoch confirmed that concepts were discussed with mayor Mark Jamieson and other councillors during the opening night of the Captain’s Table restaurant at the former Hyatt resort.
Also being considered is a hovercraft link to Brisbane, aviary, aquarium, a giant ferris wheel similar to the London Eye and a monorail linking the complex with the Sunshine Coast Airport.
“I think he’s very serious about this,” Cr Jamieson said. “I welcome his enthusiasm for the region but it’s a lot of conceptual ideas at present and needs a lot of work and consultation.”
