The Star takes centre stage

Sydney’s newest event space, Marquee at The Star, welcomed over 650 event buyers, corporate event planners to an exclusive, invitation only event experience last month.

The experience, named Four Moods, showcased Marquee’s flexible, unique and luxurious function spaces.
Marquee’s four unique rooms; the Main Room, the Boombox, the Library and the Dressing Room provided guests with inspirational ideas and four functional opportunities to host events of all shapes and sizes.
With a capacity to host more than 1100 guests, The Star’s, latest component in its $870 million development had guests in awe.
As Magdalene McCutcheon, executive assistant, IOOF Holdings Ltd, said, “Tonight’s event has shown off the truly unique spaces at Marquee that would each be perfect for the different functions we put on, from entertaining a small group of clients right up to Christmas parties for 300 people. It was such a great night and an experience that is completely different to any other venue in Sydney.”
Highlights of the event included canapés and cocktails in The Boombox, an event space with a capacity of over 325 guests. As well, the exclusive pamper bar in the Dressing Room featured manicurists, make-up artists and massage therapists with the Sydney skyline as an impressive backdrop to the event.
Hosted by Jakki Temple and The Star sales team, guests enjoyed a tour of the venue with tips and tricks on how to create unforgettable event experiences utilising all four unique spaces. Executive chef at The Star, Andy North devised a delicious menu of canapés for the event including freshly shucked local oysters, Peking duck pancakes and salmon and tuna sashimi which went hand in hand with a scrumptious cocktail selection.
Marquee is one of numerous event spaces at The Star; the new event centre, opening early 2013, offers multiple flexible spaces as a one-of-a-kind events and entertainment destination.
The Star is part of the Echo Entertainment Group and currently employs over 4000 staff across gaming, hospitality and other specialist industries and currently injects over $150million into local, Australian and International economies across a large variety of industry sectors.
