One of Cairns most popular and affordable accommodation properties, Cairns Queenslander Apartments, has just unveiled a fresh new look and image from 1 June.
The property exterior now boasts a wonderful contrast of modern and colonial Queensland architecture to capture the leisure of the tropics.
Significant upgrades have been made to the property that includes 43 new deluxe guest hotel rooms, 20 new deluxe self-contained apartments and Cairns’ newest and most exciting restaurant, Steak on Lake, bringing a new dimension of flavour utilising the very best of fresh local produce. The new rooms have yet to be star rated by AAA Tourism but they are likely to be four star.
Queensland Hotels director Mike Spaulding said the refurbishment was a vote of confidence in Cairns tourism.
“I’m putting my money where my mouth is. There aren’t many accommodation properties or tourism businesses in the Cairns city area taking the initiative to redevelop in our current economic climate.
“We are long-time businesspeople in Cairns and have seen Cairns go through its ups and downs but we are very optimistic about the future,” Mike stressed.
Mike undertook the construction himself, employing up to employing dozens of local tradespeople during the upgrade which took place with no disruption to guests or the business.
During the multi-million dollar redevelopment the hotel’s new guestrooms were extensively re-furnished with high quality furniture and fittings. The synergy and balance of colours used in each new guest room provides relaxing casual décor symbolic of our region Tropical North Queensland.
Each renovated guestroom has been fitted with brand new top quality bedding plus before every guest arrival all mattresses and pillows are sanitised for our guests health and wellbeing using the revolutionary SleepEasy cleaning system. Guest bathrooms showcase a clean fresh bright modern look and have been fitted with monsoon shower heads, large vanity basins and the very latest state of the art eco friendly water saving devices. Other energy efficient items to reflect modernisation include new lighting, LCD HD televisions, eco smart individually controlled Daikin air conditioning and ceiling fans. The new self-catering apartments contain modern designer kitchens including cooktop, microwave oven and full size refrigerator. The new Frangipani two bedroom apartments feature two separate private shower rooms.
Hotel facilities include 112 guest rooms in total a mixture of hotel and self-catering all with their own private balcony table and chairs, 24 hour manned reception and tour desk, two swimming pools, two elevators, accessible rooms, WiFi and guest Internet terminal access, Austar satellite television, housekeeping daily room mini tidy, full service 7th day of guest stay, on site car-parking and fully licensed Steak on Lake Char-Grill Restaurant open daily for breakfast and dinner.
Cairns Queenslander Apartments is one of two 3½-star properties in the Queenslander Hotels’ portfolio.
Tropical Queenslander and Cairns Queenslander Apartments are both conveniently located close to the Esplanade parklands walking track leading to the heart of the city. The property is just 1.7km from the city centre and 5km from international and domestic airports.
The completion of the multi-million dollar new look and upgrade has meant the entrance and reception for the Cairns Queenslander has been relocated back to it’s original site, on the corner of Lake and Charles streets.
The new deluxe Jasmine hotel room is a spacious contemporary hotel room with balcony and has been designed for guests who do not wish to self cater. Room facilities include flat screen HDTV, satellite TV, STD/ISD direct dial telephone, wi-fi available, individual controlled air-conditioning, ceiling fans, private facilities with shower. The deluxe Orchid one-bedroom apartment is designed for guests that may wish to self-cater with modern kitchen featuring microwave, stove top and full size refrigerator as well as private facilities with shower. Also features laundry, balcony and wi-fi access.
The deluxe dual key Frangipani two-bedroom apartment can sleep up to six guests featuring two separate living areas and two separate private shower facilities.
Mike says that four to six new staff would be employed joining the 30-40 that already work at the property.
