Tassie golf resort gains council backing

The $85 million Claremont Golf Course lifestyle resort redevelopment in Tasmania is a step closer to reality after gaining council approval.

Glenorchy mayor Stuart Slade said the council had approved the project including a 90-room hotel complex, a restaurant and 77 units, incorporating two and three-bedroom dwellings.
Under the plan, the existing 18-hole golf course and two bowling greens would become integral to the development.

The Claremont Golf Club board says, “The application has now been forwarded to the Tasmanian Planning Commission for approval of the rezoning of the land which is expected to take about three months. The club will be seeking expressions of interest from developers for the development.”

It is believed about a dozen developers had previously expressed interest in the project.
