Innova style at home in the desert
The style of design of Uluru Meeting Place at Ayers Rock Resort and the stunning refurbishments of the five-star Sails in the Desert hotel that were launched last week, carries through to the style of fixtures and fittings,
including tables, chairs and other event furniture.
Style and functionality were criteria for conference tables and chairs, according to Innova Group, which fulfilled an 850-piece order for the new complex, an investment of over $300,000. Innova Group specialises in event furniture and equipment for the hotels and meetings industry.
Innova Group’s equipment was specified by Juliet Ashworth, principal designer at Chada, hospitality industry specialist interior designers. The order was placed through Accor’s hotel equipment services manager, Claire Jackison.
In addition to the corporate and marketing partnership with Accor, Innova Group was also appointed by Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia to fulfil the supply and installation of all public area and conferencing equipment at the resort. As well as tables and chairs, Innova Group supplied two state-of-the-art Mity-Lite Magnattach dance floors plus mobile staging to accommodate the growing mix of events that the Resort is seeking to attract.
National sales manager of Innova Group, Jamie Glaister said that while design sciences had been employed for the physical structure and look of the resort development itself, design science had been applied to items such as conference tables and chairs, and even dance floors in recent years to generate significant financial and aesthetic benefits to operators.
“Tables and chairs too have to be flexible in their application, while being aesthetically appealing in order to promote a sense of exclusivity and quality to the client,” he said. “They have to comply with more stringent Occupational and Public Health and Safety laws, whilst being strong, durable and ultimately reliable day-in, day-out … and they need to be operator-friendly for staff who have to set-up the room and return the equipment to storerooms.”
