NT resort re-opens after fires
The Kings Canyon Resort in the Northern Territory that had to be abandoned during last week’s bush fires will reopen today [16 January].
A thorough survey of the damage has been carried out after the resort was closed as massive bush fires swept through the area last week, with all staff relocating for safety in Alice Springs.
However, the resort’s owners, Delaware North, said in a statement that all staff have now returned to the resort and are in the process of cleaning up damage caused by ash and smoke. The structural damage was “fortunately fairly minimal” and did not impact on guest areas.
