BCCM Act: Bleijie not backing down

Attorney-general Jarrod Bleijie is refusing to back down on revisions to the Body Corporate & Community Management Act and will push through the controversial amendments, timetabled to be debated in state parliament late this week.

Mr Bleijie and tourism minister Jann Stuckey have agreed to further consult with unit owners after George Friend led a meeting at Q1 in Surfers Paradise last week. Mr Friend welcomed the attorney-general’s commitment to review all body corporate matters but said he would continue the campaign against the new bill which could increase levies by up to 30%.

Mr Bleijie said he was changing the body corporate law “in the interest of justice”.
