Fraser Coast boss quits after 8 months
Tourism Fraser Coast chief Pip Close resigned last week after only eight months in the role.
The Hervey Bay Chamber of Commerce advised it was happy with Ms Close’s performance but tourism portfolio councillor Stuart Taylor said the announcement was bitterly disappointing. Tourism Fraser Coast chairman David Hay said Ms Close would be sorely missed.
Paul Smith, president of the Maryborough Chamber of Commerce, said while some of Ms Close’s decisions were questionable, he still believed she deserved a place in the new tourism entity [Economic Development and Tourism Entity] if she wanted it.
Ms Close’s resignation takes effect 1 March. Tourism Fraser Coast’s tourism development manager Robbie Cornelius will be the acting general manager
