NSW government to offer support to tourism operators

Flooded communities in NSW will be offered subsidised marketing to help them lure back the tourist dollar.

The state government will help communities recovering from the destruction to rebuild tourism by offering promotional support, tourism minister George Souris says.

“Key initiatives include social media campaigns and media familiarisations to bring travel trade to the affected areas,” he said on Thursday.

Tourism operators in affected areas would be consulted to develop further promotional opportunities.

Mr Souris said tourism was essential to many of the areas affected by floods and bushfires, and it was important people knew NSW was open for business.

“We understand how important tourism is to so many of these affected areas of the state and we will do what we can to help them recover,” he said.
