Famous South Yarra pub gets revamp
Melbourne’s Prahran’s Station Hotel, famous for the train emerging from the house next door, is being reshaped at a cost of $20 million by developer Saade Group.
The V/Line engine, sold to a private buyer after its removal, will be engraved on the façade of the new six-storey development to be built around the hotel over the next 18 months.
The hotel will be three storeys at the front, rising to six levels at the rear and will incorporate the heritage-listed pub, which ran for 108 years before being closed earlier this year, plus 28 one-bedroom and 13 two-bedroom apartments. It was designed by architect Robert Ficarra from Interlandi Mantesso.
Construction at the Prahran’s Station Hotel is expected to start in June and finish in December 2014.
