Geocon recycles old building into hotel
Canberra could soon have more hotel rooms as Geocon Constructors plans to adapt an 11-storey office block into a 3½-star hotel in Woden Town Centre.
The $31.5 million conversion into the Green Star-rated Adobe Hotel is due for completion in August. It will consist of 153 hotel rooms and offer a bar and restaurant.
Geocon managing director Nick Georgalis bought the building from GE Finance.
Mr Georgalis said, ”Getting these projects started, running the feasibility, financing it, consulting with community, making sure that we tick every box, ultimately, we have added a few more hurdles in creating the first Green Star hotel with Nabers compliance.”
Geocon already has hotels in Tuggeranong and Belconnen.
