Grant enables conference facility in Whitsundays

Big4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort will receive a $250,000 federal government grant to build a multi-purpose conference facility.

The facility will complement the broad range of existing accommodation options at the resort and will cater for up to 100 guests.

The resort is owned and operated by the McKinnon family who hope to start building the new centre by June and hope to have it up and running by the end of the year.

Naomi McKinnon from Big4 Adventure Whitsunday said the function centre could be used for various events including business conferences, weddings and family reunions.

The grant is part of a $141 million federal government investment in regional tourism through the Tourism Industry Regional Development Fund.
