Adelaide hotel go-ahead but smaller

Tangcheng Holding’s proposed residential and hotel development planned for Adelaide’s Gouger St has finally gained approval.

The 18-storey apartment block and 14-storey hotel received Development Assessment Commission approval last week.

Plans were adjusted to narrow the width of the hotel, reducing its capacity from 184 rooms to 129 and move it to the east to reduce the overshadowing of Claxton St properties following a protracted consultation with residents. Architect Hames Sharley director David Cooke said he would this week speak with Tangcheng management, who were currently in China, to find out their construction plans.
