Phillip Is resort officially opens

Ken Smith, Victoria’s speaker of the Legislative Assembly, joined tourism and local government representatives this week for the official opening of Ramada Resort Phillip Island.

Located at Cowes, Ramada Phillip Island features 211 free-standing cottages situated on 26ha of picturesque countryside and is a Wyndham Hotel Group resort.

Mr Smith, a long term resident of Phillip Island, welcomed Wyndham Hotel Group as a major employer on the island. “I am thrilled to see the international brand, Ramada establish its presence on the island. The resort has already taken many positive steps in helping to promote and preserve a region that so many Victorians are passionate about,” said Mr Smith.

The resort operates as a mixed-use property in partnership with Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific.

CEO of Wyndham Barry Robinson said, “Ramada Phillip Island is a fantastic addition to Wyndham Hotel Group’s resort portfolio, providing visitors to the region with a unique natural setting to enjoy its abundance of wildlife attractions including the popular Penguin Parade.”

At the official opening, guests were given a tour showcasing 32 refurbished cottages and extensive resort facilities including a restaurant and bar, wedding and conference venues, swimming pool, tennis courts, children’s playground, barbecue areas and numerous walking tracks.

The resort’s collection of ‘Wyndham Green’ initiatives were also highlighted, including in-room recycling and water saving measures.

The resort is close to a variety of natural wildlife experiences including the famous Penguin Parade and Australia’s largest fur seal colony and in March, Phillip Island was named a National Surfing Reserve.

Ramada Phillip Island is the ninth Ramada branded hotel in the South Pacific region and joins Wyndham’s growing network of 24 resorts across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

It is Wyndham’s fifth Victorian resort. WorldMark Resort Ballarat, Wyndham Resort Torquay, WorldMark Resort Lakes Entrance and Ramada Encore Dandenong also form part of the company’s portfolio of vacation ownership, managed or franchised resorts.
