Solar retrofit for Mooloolaba penthouses
Four penthouse rooftops of the Beachcomber Resort at Mooloolaba have now had six-kilowatt solar panels installed in over the course of over a year.
Planning started in February last year and after waiting for council approval and rain delays, the project is finally complete.
Mickey Harris, owner of Evolution Solar Sunshine Coast, said, “A frame had to be built on the roof and we had to get cranes to lift all our equipment on to the fourth floor,” he said.
The owner of the four apartments, Ian George, predicted it would take five or six years before he would see a return on his investment.
However, he said the lengthy and expensive project would be worth the cost in the long run. “I regard it as a long-term project but one that will pay dividends both financially and environmentally,” he said.
