Support for short breaks campaign

The accommodation industry is voicing its support for a new NSW government campaign to encourage visitors to take short breaks on the NSW south coast.

Speaking on behalf of the industry, the Accommodation Association of Australia says the government’s million-dollar Visit South Coast initiative will help to remind Australians about the many destinations and attractions that the region has to offer.

“The accommodation industry welcomes the Visit South Coast marketing campaign and is confident that it will result in an increase in the number of visitors to the region,” said the chief executive officer of AAA, Richard Munro.

“The south coast of NSW boasts some of the best beaches and fishing spots in the whole of Australia and the campaign will showcase many of these.

“Even if it is only a short break, a trip to the south coast of NSW gives visitors some of the best holiday experiences in Australia. As well, it is a region where there are a significant number of tourism and accommodation establishments and these businesses are set to benefit from the campaign.”

The AAA has also welcomed the $30 million partnership between the NSW government and Qantas to promote Sydney and regional NSW as visitor destinations.

“The partnership is another example of the significantly higher profile that tourism has taken under the O’Farrell government,” Mr Munro said.
