Tasmania to have a silo hotel
Tasmanian developer Errol Stewart is planning to turn Launceston’s silos into a hotel and construction is expected to start before the end of the year.
Stewart has agreed to buy the site from Roberts Ltd and plans to use the old grain silos on the site to build an 11-storey, 64-room hotel, restaurant and conference centre.
Mr Stewart said the $11 million hotel would contain 64 standard rooms over eight floors and four 100m² premier suites. Two small conference spaces will be housed on the ground floor and a bistro, bar, restaurant and reception area on the first floor.
A car park of almost 100 spaces will be built for guests.
