WA resort sued for negligence

Joondalup Resort at Connolly, about 25 minutes from Perth, is being sued by Catherine Eng May Lee of Singapore. Lawyers acting for Ms Lee allege she tripped on a paver at the resort in August 2010 resulting in a leg fracture that needed five operations and left her traumatised and losing $100,000 she earned in her employment at a golf resort in Singapore

. The lawyers claim Joondalup Resorts International P/L was negligent by failing to properly maintain the path to ensure the footpath was free of tripping hazards or place warning signs.

Joondalup Resort and Country Club chief executive Wayne Carroll said the matter was being handled by the resort’s insurers and solicitors, who had communicated regularly with Ms Lee and her lawyers.
