Canberra okays 120-room hotel
The Little National Hotel, the fourth commercial accommodation venture of development company, the Doma Group, will be built in Canberra after the National Capital Authority approved the project.
Construction of the 120-room hotel in Barton is expected to begin in February and be operating by mid-2015. The hotel will occupy the top two levels of a seven-storey building.
Doma Group already have the Realm and Burbury hotels and construction will begin in about two weeks for 45 serviced apartments in another development within the Realm precinct.
Doma Group managing director Jure Domazet said the hotel would target travelling Commonwealth public servants and also fly-in fly-out staff who attend Parliament House when in session. He says the rooms will be smaller than usual but have high-level amenities including high-specification beds, high-thread-count sheets, full room automation and cutting-edge technology.
