Bendigo hotel build in seven days

Art Series Hotel Group is to open hotels in regional Victoria, in Melbourne and South Australia next year. The group, a creation of Melbourne entrepreneur Will Deague, is to build hotels in Bendigo and Parkville. Names of the properties are yet to be announced but like their predecessors – The Olsen in South Yarra, The Blackman in St Kilda Road, Melbourne, and The Cullen in Prahran – they will carry the names of leading Australian contemporary artists.

The unique Bendigo property is set to open in May, followed by Parkville in Melbourne. Another hotel, The Watson, is set to open in Adelaide next July.

The 128-room, four-star Bendigo complex will be the first hotel in Australia to be built in just seven days.

Construction company Hickory’s business development manager Damien Crough said the hotel would be the first hotel using the Unitised Building System. Many of the building modules will be made in a Melbourne factory and delivered in pieces to the Bendigo construction site with the first modules to be installed in early December.

The hotel will be named after the artist, to be announced in February next year.
