Dockside awarded contract for Glebe Island

The operator of Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island, AEG Ogden, has awarded well known Sydney venue and events firm, Dockside Group, the three-year exclusive catering contract for the interim facility.

Dockside Group will provide comprehensive food and beverage experiences on site, including pop-up cafés, corporate hospitality and catering for all events and exhibitions occurring at the new Sydney Exhibition Centre.

Owned and operated by brothers, Christopher, Theodore and Peter Drivas, Dockside Group’s long and successful track record of delivering high quality large events across its three venues and four restaurants, in-depth knowledge of Sydney’s event and exhibition industries, its 30 years of operational experience and large workforce were contributing factors to the tender win.

Christopher Drivas, managing director of Dockside Group said “We will be drawing from our experience, skilled team and passion for events to provide exceptional hospitality options for all who visit Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island over the next three years.”

Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island will offer pavilion-style, fully-serviced space for 20,000sqm with an option for an additional 5000sqm for temporary expansion for larger shows and exhibitions.

The first exhibition will be held in February 2014.

Malu Barrios, general manager of Sydney Exhibition Centre @ Glebe Island has announced the appointment of the exhibition facilities’ new management team at the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia’s Welcome Reception on Sydney Harbour.

Staff appointments include:

Adrian Slingsby – manager-events. Adrian previously worked with Reed Exhibitions and was manager event operations at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre for several years.

Steve Mitsos – financial controller. Steve has joined SEC@GI from Darwin Convention Centre, where he worked as financial controller since 2011. Prior to that, he was financial controller at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre for three years.

Johnny Naofal – facility manager. Johnny has spent the past 13 years at Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre as security manager.
