Newcastle conference plan on display
Efforts to fulfill the need for conferencing facilities in Newcastle have gone on display in the city.
“I want to open up 4000m² of conference facility space,” said Jerry Schwartz who has plans for a $24 million, nine-storey hotel complex on Wharf Rd, opposite the Crowne Plaza which he also owns.
The plans include 220 hotel rooms and more than 120 parking spaces, along with three function rooms and a restaurant and bar.
Dr Schwartz says Newcastle does not have enough conference and accommodation facilities.
