APG to build third Burleigh complex

Amalgamated Property Group, owned by Barry Morris and Graham Potts, is about to embark on its third venture at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast.

The company plans a DBI-designed 25-storey building, tentatively named Tallahassee, overlooking the ocean on a 3034m² site between The Esplanade and the Gold Coast Highway. The tower, tentatively tagged Tallahassee, will have 174 apartments and cost around $115 million.

It will be the third venture at Burleigh after completing the Element and Ivory buildings as well as Broadbeach towers Verve, Sierra Grande and Eclipse. APG is also constructing Synergy, a $70 million 134 apartment tower at Broadbeach.

APG has owned the Tallahassee site since 2008 after acquiring properties that housed the two-level Fran De Mar, Genbrook, Surf Seekers and Tallahassee apartment buildings for $14.214 million.

Mr Morris said the oceanfront part of the L-shaped Tallahassee site would be landscaped open space, which would be a positive outcome for neighbouring low-rise buildings.
