Fortitude Valley to get two more hotels

Two more development applications for hotels in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley have been received by the Brisbane City Council making 23 construction projects valued at approximately a billion dollars either underway or scheduled to start in the Valley.

Calile Malouf Investments has submitted a development application for a Richards and Spence designed 142 room hotel in James St, including a mix of retail space and restaurants.

A $150 million three tower transformation of a site – vacant for more than 30 years – at 186 Wickham St, has also gone before Brisbane City Council.

The project includes a 30 storey, 187 unit residential apartment tower, a 25 storey, 189 room hotel development and a second, 24 storey apartment building. Plans for the three stage development also include a public plaza which will include landscaped gardens and seating and art installations.

The proposal comes on top of plans by Tim Gurner earlier this year for two 30 storey residential buildings and a 15 storey hotel on a 500m² site adjacent to the Fortitude Valley railway station.
