Motel planned for Mackay country club
An 80-room motel – to be run by the Best Western Hotel Group – will commence construction in Mackay early next year.
Mackay developer Bruce McDiarmid said it would be an 80-room motel catering mainly for sporting groups that use Harrup Park Country Club and the associated facilities. “It will also provide accommodation to the general public as well,” he said.
It will be a four or four-and-a-half star development. Mr McDiarmid said, “We are looking at a modular type of construction, as well as conventional, but it will take 12 months at the max.”
Mr McDiarmid said the accommodation would be different to most options available in Mackay. “It’s designed to fit in and to use the green space of Harrup Park, to provide what we think will be a different and more relaxed style of accommodation,” he said.
