Second Hotel for Sydney Airport
Sydney Airport will gain a second hotel within the airport precinct as part of a major overhaul of the T2 and T3 domestic terminal zone.
The upmarket hotel, which the airport expects to be a “four- to five-star” property, would have approximately 430 rooms. A Preliminary Draft plan for the T2/T3 area, revealed this week by Sydney Airport Corporation, pegs the hotel’s location at the northern edge of the airport precinct, sandwiched between Qantas Drive and a new ‘ground transport interchange’.
While a score of hotels are located in suburbs surrounding the airport, the first hotel directly within the airport precinct – and thus a short stroll from the terminal – opened only last year in the Rydges Sydney Airport, which sits adjacent to the international T1 terminal. The proposed hotel at the T2/T3 end of the airport would have over a hundred rooms more than the 318-room Rydges Sydney Airport.
