Como Hotels move into Australia

Singapore-based Como Hotels and Resorts will make its first entry into Australia’s hotel market manage FJM Property’s six-star hotel to open in September on the site of Perth’s old Treasury Buildings.

The Kerry Hill-designed hotel, to be christened Como The Treasury, is a key part of the $580 million redevelopment of Perth’s heritage Cathedral-Treasury precinct.

FJM director Adrian Fini confirmed the Como deal, “We had long planned to run the hotel as an independent. However, when we met with Como and realised how similar our vision and values were, it was a straightforward decision. “Como has a history of hand-picking special properties around the globe based on their heritage and unique features.”

Como’s COO Joerg Meir said the group, owned by Singapore retail icon Christina Ong, was delighted to bring its brands of wellness, service and cuisine to Australia.
