CMCA and tripigy partner for major milestone in travel industry

Recreational vehicle giant Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) is gearing up to celebrate its 30th National Rally in Albany, WA.

During the rally, the club will be conducting its 15th Annual General Meeting. CMCA host two major rallies each year and these events generate a wealth of anticipation for both the organisation, and its membership.

Proudly supported by the City of Albany, CMCA’s 30th National Rally is sure to be an event to be valued by many.

“It’s great to get back to the west,” says CMCA CEO, Richard Barwick. “It’s been nearly five years since the last CMCA National Rally, held in Kalgoorlie.

“Many of our members have travelled long distances to experience the incredible Great Southern region, and we’re delighted to be here this year with the support of the City of Albany.”

Continuously striving to enhance its exclusive member benefit program, CMCA’s latest addition is the launch of the new generation travel app, Geowiki, and its website—brought to life by the CMCA’s partnership with tech-meets-travel company, Tripigy.

Having established success in the recreational industry, Tripigy’s iOS and Android app has collected a large following of camping enthusiasts seeking to discover new places on which to base their adventures. Hosting the largest database of camping locations, including facility specifics and region features, the mobile app has convenient information for users on the go. With this resource at hand, CMCA expects Geowiki to raise the bar across the RV industry, giving Club members an exclusive benefit to look forward to.

Tripigy’s team will join CMCA at this year’s National Rally in Albany, welcoming an expected crowd of over 1,200 CMCA members, and up to 600 motorhomes—an experience that should see an economic benefit to the local economy, estimated between $2.5 and $3m.

“We’re excited about coming to Albany and being a part of this CMCA event,” says Tripigy founder Justin Derry. “We’re thrilled to be a part of an experience that supports over 66,000 CMCA members with our innovative technology.” Over 100 chapters and special interest groups are affiliated under CMCA, each hosting up to 12 monthly events every year—providing a welcome benefit to many small and regional communities across Australia.

There is also an enormous regional exposure for the Albany region to CMCA’s huge membership base through the organisation’s prestigious publication, The Wanderer, and the very active social media presence. Albany’s hosting of this event means its awarded status as an RV Friendly Town (RVFT) will be put to good use. An RV Friendly Town is a town that has met a set of guidelines to ensure they provide a certain amount of amenities, and a certain level of services for RV travellers. This CMCA initiative ensures RV tourists receive a friendly welcome from towns displaying the RVFT sign, giving them a safe place to stay overnight or longer periods of time.
