AccorHotels Australia announces support for marriage equality

AccorHotels has raised the rainbow flag and pledged its support of Australian marriage equality in an open letter.

AccorHotels has said it is committed to supporting diversity in the workplace and recognises the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) employees and guests, alongside the rights of Indigenous Australians, female, migrant, refugee and mature workers.

Chief operating officer AccorHotels Pacific, Simon McGrath, said “Just like our 10,000 employees come from all walks of life, so too do our guests. It is our number one priority to ensure that our hotels make every person feel welcome, valued and equal regardless of their gender, race, religion or sexuality.

“An equal society, free of discrimination allows our employees to function at their best and have genuine connections and emotional experiences with our guests. We are serious about providing our people with equal opportunities and openly pledge our support for marriage equality in Australia,” said Simon.

AccorHotels declared that it embraces an inclusive workplace as part of its wider diversity commitment, which includes various initiatives focused on increasing Indigenous employment, female talent and mature workers in its 200 hotels across the country.

“Embracing diversity and equal opportunities for all results in a positive and productive workforce which ultimately results in career development, greater debate, decision-making and outcomes for our business and Australia’s hospitality industry,” Simon concluded.
