Mayor officially opens $14 million renovation at Metro Hotel Perth
Over a hundred corporate clients, hospitality industry representatives and Perth media attended the launch of Metro Hotel Perth’s new $14 million renovation last week, which includes a newly-built 53-room ‘Aspire Wing’, new Red Bill restaurant, function rooms, reception area and lobby.
Mayor of South Perth, Ms Sue Doherty, was on hand to officially open the newly renovated property, alongside Metro Hospitality Group’s managing director Peter Frawley and Metro Hotel Perth’s general manager Paul Rogers.
Invited guests toured the property while enjoyed canapés prepared by Red Bill restaurant head chef Jesse Emerton-King. All guests went into the draw to win a range of accommodation vouchers with one lucky guest taking home a $1,500 travel voucher.
Peter Frawley said the completion of the new Aspire Wing and hotel renovations marks a new beginning for this popular Perth hotel.
Since the hotel was first built in the 1970’s, Metro Hotel Perth has acquired iconic status with residents and visitors alike. It enjoys a prime vantage point on the south side of Perth, and is now a well-known landmark on Perth’s skyline,” Peter said.
“We were thrilled to showcase the property and new additions to our valued clients. The feedback we received on the day was fantastic, and we are thrilled to be able to offer a quality tourism product in Western Australia.”
The new Aspire Wing rooms feature a range of amenities, including pod coffee machines, complimentary unlimited high speed internet and unlimited Netflix, and some rooms have uninterrupted views over the Swan River to the CBD.
The new wing at the hotel was built by Coopers & Oxley with CDI responsible for the restaurant and lobby area. Over 61,000 man hours were used over the duration of the project with 1800 tonnes of concrete and 97,000 bricks and blocks.
The majority of the material used is from Western Australia, with nearly 100 locally based contractors involved in the build.
