Aussie hotels shine at awards dinner in Hobart

Choice Hotels Asia-Pac has recognised 26 Australian hotels for their superior hospitality performance, each taking out a Gold Award at the 2016 Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Awards, held this week in Hobart, Tasmania.

Trent Fraser, Choice Hotels Asia-Pac chief executive officer, announced this year’s winners in front of more than 240 guests and praised the extremely high level of quality and service exhibited by each of the award-winning properties.

“Gold Awards are given out to a small number of hotels in each of our brands that receive the highest satisfaction rating by guests and who are highly engaged with all of Choice Hotels programs,” Mr Fraser said.

Choice Hotels represents the Econo Lodge, Comfort, Quality and Clarion hotel brands, as well as members of the Ascend Hotel Collection.

“It’s truly inspiring to work alongside hoteliers that are committed to evolving with the industry yet continue to remain focused on delivering the best possible experience for every single guest,” Mr Fraser added.

The biggest announcement however was saved for the end of the night when the Franchisee of the Year for each brand was announced.

The coveted winners for 2016 were; Econo Lodge Alabaster in Cowra, NSW, Comfort Inn Parkes International, Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway, Clarion Hotel Townsville, and Oceans Resort Hervey Bay, an Ascend Hotel Collection member.

“We’re really proud to be able to recognise the outstanding efforts of each of our Franchisee of the Year award winners,” said Mr Fraser.

Mr Fraser continued: “These five properties deliver an amazing guest experience, equal to some of the best in our industry and the commitment they make to their respective brands is truly humbling. Each of these winners are truly deserving of this acknowledgement and we look forward to continuing to work with each of them, to further grow their businesses in the future.”
